Welcome! I’m Justin Ting, an Electrical Engineering PhD student at the University of Michigan, currently looking for postdoc positions.

Research Interests: I am interested in studying how complex movement (e.g. handwriting, gymnastics, predator pursuit and prey evasion) is generated by neural and embodied means, using stochastic control theory and information bottleneck methods. To deepen our understanding of movement, we must both study animal behavioral data from experiments and strengthen theoretical neuroscience to include behavior and embodied cognition. My ambition is to develop a quantitative comparative framework. Comparison across multiple species can illuminate general principals underlying the kinds of movement we observe in the natural world.
